The new phone book? Yes, for those of you too young to remember or too embarrassed to admit it, that is a quote from a 1979 Steve Martin movie – “The Jerk”. It was his first starring role in a feature film. Whenever something exciting would happen, our family would mimic Martin by jumping up and down and yelling: “The new phone book’s here! The new phone book’s here!” (Some of you are doing it now! Lol!)
It’s interesting that I didn’t remember why he was so excited about the phone book. (There is quite a bit I didn’t remember about the movie – probably a good thing. It’s a little risque!) When I researched the quote, I was surprised about his reason:
- Navin R. Johnson: The new phone book’s here! The new phone book’s here!
- Harry Hartounian: Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing.
- Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 – Johnson, Navin R.! I’m somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity – your name in print – that makes people. I’m in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.
Well, things did start happening to him, but they were not the kind of things he was expecting or wanting.
But I digress!
Yesterday, I was doing the jumping up and down doing the old “The new phone book’s here!” dance. Why? Because my Young Living Essential Rewards Order arrived! Besides my usual goodies and the great promos (Spearmint, Copaiba, and SleepEssence), my cleanse arrived!
Yep, I’m doing the 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse! (Check out the January Newsletter for more details.) It’s part of my “Do Over” for 2015! I’ll post a Detox Diary and update each day of the cleanse to let you follow along with my progress, so keep checking back and leave a comment or ask a question.
Back to Steve Martin (AKA: Navin R. Johnson). How sad to think that he felt like a nobody before his name was in print. In case no one has told you lately, you are a somebody! In fact, you are pretty significant! The Bible says that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made”! (Psalm 139:14)
If you aren’t feeling your best (maybe you haven’t been up to par for some time), maybe your body needs a vacation. Not the kind of vacation, unfortunately, that requires packing and sounds like the ocean lapping the shore. I’m talking about a vacation from processed foods. Most of you already know that food can affect your behavior, your mood, and your general health either negatively or positively. Too many of our food selections are chemical-laden and nutrient-deficient. Right? So, follow along as I complete my detox. Maybe you will decide it’s something you could do, too. Stay with me now!
